Hayati (la mia vita nella lingua araba) è un diario visivo realizzato esclusivamente con uno smartphone e riflette e indaga sulle identità delle “seconde generazioni”, figli di immigrati, nati e cresciuti in Italia, in equilibrio tra due realtà che a prima vista potrebbero sembrare incompatibili.
L’indagine è stata per l’autore una riscoperta della storia della propria famiglia volta a ritrovare una identità che non è unica, ma che sembra piuttosto essere un ibrido culturale. Sono diventato il suo soggetto e il suo oggetto. E mentre egli cerca di definire questa identità, comprende il privilegio di “stare sulla soglia di casa” ai margini di due ambienti.

Hayati is a visual diary made exclusively with a smartphone and reflects and investigates the identities of “second generations”, that children of immigrants, born and raised in Italy, growing up between two realities that could look like incompatible. The research was for the author a rediscovery of the history of his family aimed at rediscovering an identity that is not unique, but rather seems to be a cultural hybrid. And while he tries to define this identity, he understands the privilege of “standing on the doorstep” on the edge of two rooms.
